Advice on Board Selection

Can anyone please recommend a board preferably small form factor ( itx? )
which the documentation is available for ( or a port of linux bios is
available for ) which would be suitable for dvd playback?

It has a hardware DVD decoder, if I'm not mistaken. But more importantly, 
extensive work has been done on LinuxBIOS ports for various versions of 
this board. If you find one you like, get detailed specifications and 
check back here before ordering it so that someone can confirm if it works 
with LinuxBIOS.

Is this board currently supported, and is there any hope of getting register
descriptions for the north/south bridge and such.

Dave Ashley sent us one of those exact mainboards, we'll test it here at 
LANL next week. If you're in a rush, however, you should get Dave's 
attention.

As for vendors, I usually use www.pricewatch.com. I noticed there's a 
pricewatch.co.uk, but I'm not sure if it's run by the same people. Also, a 
lot of retailers are absolutely clueless about the hardware they're 
selling so you must be careful when trying to order a specific part.

I've used both

http://www.linitx.com/

Linitx has tended to be a bit cheaper.
mini-itx.com has a much more interesting site.
I've had no problems with the service from either of them.

They both also sell compact flash + low profile ram. The latter is
tricky to get right when ordering from non-specialist suppliers.
