With Schuko plug this ethernet controlled power strip is pretty nice (they also have a USB-controlled variant) http://energenie.com/item.aspx?id=7557&lang=en
I use controllable APC rack outlet for this purpose, they cost almost nothing, like <5$/socket for used APC AP7957 from ebay.
