A nice method of desoldering soic pins is to use a 26 swg enamelled copper wire. Pass the wire under the ic and between the pin. Tug the wire so that it slides under the pin while heating the pin.
Nice trick!
Another similarly good tool is a plain sewing needle which can be used as a lever to bend the pin slightly while melting the solder with the soldering iron.
