Stefan,
I have only just begun to look at this code myself but I suspect the 
problem starts in the HT optimization. I think that the optimization 
code will setup the pcibus numbers to scan. I don't know why it would 
loop but it seems like some bad logic check first and last bus.

Sorry I don't have more ideas for you right now.
