I just did over the week-end (building elm, but obviously couldn't test on the device) and the patch proposed by upstream solves the issue as well. It was merged in binutils in the meantime: https://sourceware.org/git/gitweb.cgi?p=binutils-gdb.git;h=7ea12e5c3ad54da44...
I'll update the patch we have in crossgcc ASAP.

Could someone try that and report back (either here directly on the tracker) whether it solves the issue? There's a chance this fix will be accepted upstream if it works.
