Etherboot is a somewhat misleading term, as it can be used to boot from various devices now including IDE.
However, I've really grown to like FILO ( http://te.to/~ts1/filo/ ) by Sone Takeshi. Follow the instructions for building and configuring it and use filo.elf as your payload.

Hello all,
Can anyone explain how to boot an isolated box using LinuxBIOS, i.e. not etherboot. What do I use as the payload? (I did think it would be the kernel itself, but even a minimal config compiles to around 850KB which is no way going to fit in my EEPROM).
Any help appreciated.
(BTW, in answer to my previous post, CVS archives are available here: http://snapshots.linuxbios.org/)
Thanks, Surj
