laptops are just about all I use, and the 238 cols on my macbook does the trick.

Two terminals of 120 + metadata (linenumbers, window frames, ...) fit well, and that's just a plain old Full HD display. I heard 4K is all the rage now ;-)
one other thing I forgot to mention: I often look at this through a terminal on my Chromebook, I know many others use laptops for work all the time.
