According to Mitch Bradley, switching away from VSA saved ~10 seconds during early bootup.
Interesting - a while ago when I implemented VSA code into LinuxBIOS on a GX platform, my entire boot time was 9.5 seconds, which by this calculation means that LinuxBIOS and loading a kernel would have taken -0.5 seconds. Serious though, I found a negligible impact on boot times with/without VSA code.
I do not buy that argument.
