The following just worked for me:
 tla get [e-mail]--devel/freebios--lnxi--1

so I think there is some subtle typo somewhere that
was causing you problems.

The first time I tried it. I had a failure as well.  But I
can't see anything wrong :(

Ok.  It looks like you just came to the same conclusion.
