no question. I wish I knew what busybox was doing "wrong' such that it
did not work. But, since the changed software in question is coreboot,
it's our problem to resolve the issue ...

One thing I have also done in the past for this sort of problem is to
run the init under strace. It's doable. But does busybox come with
strace nowadays?
