I assume the ATA-44 versions are powered through the ATA-44 bus. There is a jumper to select master or slave. I bought one on eBay a couple of months ago for less than $6, including S+H. Works great! Search for "IDE" and "CF" though, since almost all resellers incorrectly use the term "IDE" when they really mean "ATA". Using an ATA to CF adapter would avoid the problems of using cardmgr in an initrd, etc. Obviously, the CF would not be hot swappable via the ATA interface, but if its your boot drive, it can't be swapped out anyway. [LinuxBIOS] compile errors on tyan S2881

Hi there, We have a couple of Tyan S2881 boxes that we want to run linuxbios on. I checked out the latest SVN repository (revision 2117), but get compile errors for the S2881 tree. This is the case on Debian testing/unstable with GCC 3.4.5 20051015 (prerelease) (Debian 3.4.4-9) and GCC 4.0.2 (Debian 4.0.2-2), as well as on Ubuntu Breezy with GCC 4.0.2 20050808 (prerelease) (Ubuntu 4.0.1-4ubuntu9). There are a lot more warnings when compiling with GCC 4, but it always dies on this: LinuxBIOSv2/src/cpu/amd/car/disable_cache_as_ram.c: At top level: LinuxBIOSv2/src/cpu/amd/car/disable_cache_as_ram.c:3: error: syntax error before 'volatile' Am I missing a dependency, or is this a bug? [LinuxBIOS] x11perf test results

I've completed testing EPIA-M video subsystem. Both with native AwardBIOS and with LX2. Tests were performed with "x11perf -a -repeat 2". Video depth - 16 bit, 'via'-driver from unichrome project. No major differences at first site. Should Barker's howto be expanded? -- Sincerely, Anton Borisov

Hello, I would like to use LinuxBIOS on an embedded Geode GX1 platform. The board is an Kontron ETX-mgx, and is has the following parts on board: * CPU: Geode GX1 266 MHz * Southbridge: CS5530A * Superio: Winbond W83977F: IDE, floppy, 2x serial, parallel port * Phoenix BIOS 4.0 in a Am29F040B 512kx8 flash chip (TSOP package) * 64 MB PCI 133 DIMM * Compact flash slot * USB controller (Compaq ZFMicor Chipset) * Ethernet: Davicom DM9102AE I want to use LinuxBIOS with FILO to boot a linux kernel from the IDE Compact Flash. My idea is to piggyback an empty flash chip on top of the BIOS flash chip, and then use a switch to select the original BIOS or a newly flashed one. I am new on this list, and would appreciate some help to get this project on the road! My question is: What would be the best way to get this started? Can I use LinuxBIOSv1 or LinuxBIOSv2? LinuxBIOSv2 seems newer, but it seems to lack support for the W83977F. Thanks for any help! Joep

With the numbers you provided this gets down to about 43 Megabytes per second, which is not too bad.
