[LinuxBIOS] [BUILDROM] Remove bitrotten OLPC support

Okay, this patch will probably make Ron cry, but in the end, I think its better for the health of buildrom and the project (the patch, not Ron crying). The OLPC code we had in here before was for revision B2 and earlier, which will never see the light of day to the public, and only myself, Ron and Segher have even seen them, let alone used them (and I'm not even sure if my B2 works). Even if we were to revive LinuxBIOS for the B3 for the upcoming G1G1 effort, the existing code would be too bitrotten and too old to be of any use. The only use we had for it was as a decent example of how to do LAB, but Ward has upped the stakes with his LAB code that is way better, and if we have our way, eventually all the LAB code will go away in favor of something like buildroot. And finally, the OLPC buildrom code that last worked for B2 is still active over at dev.laptop.org, so the code will be accessible if need be. So, with all that said, I am proposing this patch to remove OLPC support completely from buildrom, except for OFW, which I will discuss in the next patch. Flame on! What options in Config.lb must be set to create enough space to include filo.elf (about 94 KB) using both normal and fallback sections; option ROM_IMAGE_SIZE = (some_substracted_size) * 1024 ? Hi, this new thread is here just to get some early testing and info on the GA-M57SLI SPI flash. The IT8716F is indeed used for LPC-to-SPI translation as I supected. LDN 0x0, reg 0x24: val=0x1a serial flash interface at pin 29 LPC write to serial flash enabled 512kByte of flash are mapped at top of 4GByte 128kByte of flash are mapped at top of 1MByte (1152kByte can be mapped at most) LDN 0x7, reg 0x64/0x65: val=0x08/0x20 serial flash interface base addr 0x0820 (that's an I/O port) What I need: * Byte reads from all ports between 0x0820-0x0827 on the SPI version of the GA-M57SLI under factory BIOS. Should be harmless. * Exact type of SPI flash chip (datasheet link would be nice) * Volunteer who can reflash manually once my writing code is ready. Carl-Daniel

well, I was naive! Turns out filo maintains its own heap, unlike linuxbios. I will back my erroneous patch out. I'm still not sure what's wrong here. It's a weird problem, may just be unitialized memory. But .... filo + v3 + qemu used to work for me. ron

Hello Is it possible to use linuxbios on a ePC C10 computer ? it is using Intel Whitney 82810E that is supported now by linuxbios. The original bios take horrible long time to boot (~13 secondes to get the HP splash screen). Do you think the linuxbios can speedup the boot time or it is a hardware problem ?
