There are "qxl-vga" and "qxl" devices.  The first variant is vga 
compatible (i.e. has bios, has vga mode, grabs isa vga ports, shows boot 
screen, ...), the other isn't.  Once switched into native qxl mode there 
is no difference between those two devices.
