Yes, I am totally onboard using the netnames where we are referencing the GPIO_NN. That is what I meant by using netnames when configuring a hardware block eg. in devicetree, port_descriptors etc.
But while configuring the GPIO, I prefer to use GPIO_NN itself rather than netnames. Otherwise you have to introduce a whole new set of macros to make it work for newer and older SoCs.

Can these be moved to `skyrim/Kconfig.name` and only enabled for the necessary boards? That would remove the need for the comments describing which boards actually need them.

PS2, Line 9: Add named GPIO's to help prevent confusion in GPIO management
I'm not sure I agree with making this type of change for Skyrim this late in the program, since we have already done a significant amount of testing that would have caught any errors in the refactor. It's very easy for a copy/paste or typo to slip into a refactor like this, which can take some time to catch.
My preference would be to limp along with things as-is for Skyrim, and clean things up starting with Myst.

> We are not configuring the GPIOs in random places in the code. They are all done in the GPIO table with comments above indicating their purpose.
We may not be configuring the GPIOs in other places, but we are referencing them.
For example:
https://review.coreboot.org/c/coreboot/+/74583
> ```
> #define EMMC_CLKREQ_GPIO 115
> ```
That could instead just reference the net name directly, rather than redefining it itself.

Deferring the refactor sounds good to me.
Do we know if Whiterun needs the change also? Or we're skipping it since the SSDs for it to be behaving correctly so far?
