I didn't notice it, since all those files are called w25q64.c and made assumptions on the flash used. I could use the callback function to override the defaults. Why is it needed?

Using your patch fbg1701 reported 'Transaction error' when MRC cache data needs update.
I noticed that spi_flash_generic_probe() does not detect the winbond anymore. This is cause of the transaction error.

Frans, did you have time to test again?
Frans is on vacation and will return next Monday. He hasn't tested this yet. He had a look however and indicated that as far as he could see there still is a problem with the WREN preop but again this is without really testing.
