It's indeed helpful to make use of Git's rename detection. Not obvious right
away, but it makes future work much easier. Especially in soc/intel/, I often
had to look deep into the history of code that was moved around multiple
times. If the path of the original file isn't mentioned in a commit, Git can't
find it and even for the developer it's much harder.
