ah, PCI_OPTION_ROM_RUN_REALMODE already depends on ARCH_X86 && !ARCH_RAMSTAGE_X86_64 and i might have forgotten to select USE_EXP_X86_64_SUPPORT in my initial test, but with this option definitely enabled it still boots successfully to the linux desktop
