If you want to get rid of that weak function I think the appropriate solution is just to revert CB:50341. CONFIG_CHROMEOS boards should always have that function. The only reason a board would not have it is because that part has not landed yet (all the example boards here are either under development or aborted half-way, I think), and I don't think that is sufficient justification to have a weak function... for those cases, they can just add a chromeos.c file with an empty function in the first patch and fill it later.
