PS1: 
1. there’s already a long discussion prior the removal of the old code, that many considerations were weighted in. Please work together with the community to come out with proper maintenance plan of the code if you want to restore them, instead of going through this ugly back door script.

2. is it a good idea to +1 your own patch?
