Things you could try:

1.  Use the SeaBIOS payload built with the old toolchain.
2.  Built the firmware image with the distribution GCC 11.2.0 (`CONFIG_ANY_TOOLCHAIN=y`), for example under Debian sid/unstable, and see if that works.
