Well I don't have a strong opinion on this. Not at all. Just something I noticed and I kind of missed it.
I understand what this is approaching but the packages in the repository could change any time, especially with Debian Sid. See the situation with Python 2 earlier this year, which just vanished from one day to another. The packages which are installed also could pull updates for installed ones (I'm thinking of to fulfill dependency relations) and we probably wouldn't notice. So I'm not sure if it's really that much reproducible or if it gives us that much advantage.
However, I'm fine with abandoning this patch. Will mark as unresolved. See also CB:76085, but I still want to do more tests myself.
