Hi Nick! Not a specific bug I am aware of. We are just frequently updating the toolchain components so that we stay not too much behind and updating doesn't end in pain. I know some distros even needed additional compiler flags to make the old toolchain compiling.

Also, some people want to continue working on RISC-V. GCC 12 and binutils 2.38 introduce some major changes for that.

For now, there is probably no urgent need to update your toolchain and you can keep using the one from coreboot 4.19.
