Indeed, pkgconf does not bring new necessary functionalities for coreboot but
if I'm not mistaken, modern operating systems (FreeBSD, Debian, ..) use
pkgconf. (FreeBSD removed pkg-config).
So I think sooner or later we will have to move to pkgconf.
This said, for now (and probably for a few more years) we can continue to use old pkg-config.
