I don't think what I suggested is far-reaching. It's rather overdue
maintenance, that will be pushed even further into the future if we
keep accepting "evaluation" changes.

You should ask its author, it wasn't merged too long ago, IIRC. Still
my question remains, what is wrong with `.on_mainboard`?
