I guess Edward just has a bigger picture in mind here.
Edward, if you would like to leave it, then some more information about the idea or where the way is going would be good. For example, you could mention CB:67393.
I am also fine with removing this part. I think this patch could also be considered as a clean-up and so just writing that this deduplicates code would be fine for me.
