I wanted to ask, is the end goal to remove usage of __FLASHROM_LITTLE_ENDIAN__ and __FLASHROM_BIG_EN […]
Yes, all code should be endian independent. The build system just selects which endian conversion is needed.
There is a GSoC project to bring this forward.
