Two things I would check: - is there a write protection pin or register bits that might silently block any modification requests? - is the opcode sequence including wren? (this is probably done automatically by the ichspi driver, but i cant remember the details) And you could test if hardware sequencing (or SFDP) works as a workaround (but I doubt SFDP would behave differently for the lower block sizes and some of them are obviously wrong in the SFDP table anyway (or you have found a bug)). A full verbose log could shed some more light on it too, but I doubt it. If we get this to work we would probably like to commit this patch. Hi flashrom folks, I'm trying to add support for SST26VF064B after I got a patch from Elias. I made some changes to it after reading the datasheet, but none of the block erasing commands worked, and I don't know why... I am trying to use flashrom to make a bios backup file on my lenovo thinkpad x131e chromebook (intel celeron 1007u cpu). I have set developer-mode and have physically opened the laptop and set the write protect switch to the write enable position. I am using the command "sudo flashrom -p internal -r backup.bin -o backup.log" But when I check the md5sum for backup.bin it is different from each previous backup.bin. Shouldn't the md5sum of the backup stay the same, as long as the bios has not been changed? hello there, hope anyone can help me out, i try to implement flashrom to support dediprog SF100 on my Ubuntu. config as below: OS: Ubuntu12.04 X64 Dediprog: SF100, fm ver: 5.5.0 SPI ROM: winbond W25Q64FW, id 0xef 6017 i download flashrom v0.9.7 from http://flashrom.org/Downloads, i noticed v0.9.8 would enable dediprog by default but couldn't download now. unzip the download file and cd flashrom-0.9.7 and make with below cmd: make CONFIG_DEDIPROG=yes sudo make install plugging my SF100, and use below cmd flashrom -p dediprog -V i can see the program detect my sf100 but fail to detect the SPI ROM. log as attached file. ---log---- Probing for Winbond W25Q64.V, 8192 kB: RDID byte 0 parity violation. probe_spi_rdid_generic: id1 0x53, id2 0x4631 ----log--- as the log shows, seems flashrom read SPI ROM id is 0x53, 0x4631, but actually my SPI ROM on board is winbond with id 0xef, 0x6017(i confirm this with windows dediprog). so i have no idea why flashrom detect wrong id, and the flashchips.h already have WINBOND_NEX_W25Q64_W 0x6017 support. any help would be appreciate, thanks very much! Hello, I'm using flashrom via buspirate_spi to try and access the Macronix MX25L3206E bios chip on my Asus G73JW laptop. Problems with Jetway Board and Winbond chip

Hey there… first of all: Thank you for that incredible flashrom tool. But sadly: I can not write my BIOS chip on my Jetway Board. I got a Jetway NC96FL Mainboard with a Winbond W25Q80BV BIOS Chip, Intel NM10 Chipset and running Ubuntu 10.10. Flashrom detects the chip and the chipset well, but can not disable block protection. So it is not possible to write. I also tried to flash the chip with the Serprog/Arduino-Flasher on an Arduino Uno and it works. (But I want to burn it with my Jetway Board.) Then I tried to write it in my Jetway Board with manual raising the /WP-Pin of the Winbond Chip to VCC and it works too. So is it something (GPIO) to raise the /WP-Pin in the chipset? Can somebody help me?
