hello
@flashrom
Is
there a way to make flashrom NOT LOOK INTERNALLY but look at the external usb ports for the WCH CH341A programmer?
I only have a
laptop.
Hi,
flashrom can safely be used while the laptop is turned off. For a meaningful way of recovery you will need a *second* computer to run flashrom anyway. There are also some pitfalls: https://www.flashrom.org/ISP -- Kind regards/Mit freundlichen Grüßen, Stefan Tauner
hello again @flashrom
Could a flashrom option be added to allow only USB ports to be probed, programmed, etc. External programmers are cheap and there many laptops out here.
thanks again Boyce

in current flashrom (0.9.9), the default is to do nothing already. You have to specify `-p internal` explicitly for internal flashing. If you don't, your internal flash is safe.
