FWIW, I have merged my refined version of Dediprog SF100 supporting the new protocol. It also enables compilation of the Dediprog programmer by default (finally).
It's been a while since we've updated this thread, but that doesn't mean all has been quiet!
Both upstream and chromium flashroms have new protocol and SF600 support merged. They are both reasonably fast with the SF600, though the slower SF100 benefits significantly from some extra optimizations we've added in the Chromium branch (unbounded reads, ID caching, programmer paranoia).
Next up: 4-byte address support.
