I thought flashrom by now would echo the commandline it was invoked 
with, but apparently not.

that's ok. if you look closely at the logs you see that the DMI data
has changed. also, the infamous protections are disabled, hence
read/write work on this board. we got similar reports with current intel
chipsets.
