the flashrom version you used is quite old. 0.9.3 is the current release [1]. You could even build the current version from Subversion [2]. It would be great if you could send us the logs from the latest flashrom version.

Since this is a netbook you should be careful when trying to use flashrom to upgrade your BIOS. It is recommended that you use the vendor tool for upgrading unless you are able to recover from a failed flash attempt or if somebody else has already confirmed that it works.
