Hi everybody, can it be that the new buspirate version 4 is not supported by flashrom? I get the error "programmer initialization failed". I just used the command "flashrom -p buspirate_spi" to test it but it fails. I'm using MS Windows dos box.
Best regards Jan Hagedorn

Hello Jan,
short answer: no. Could you get it to work in the meantime?
Hi and thanks fort he reply. Yes it took a little time but with the command "flashrom -p busbirate_spi:dev=com3 -r filename.rom" I managed it working nicely. I only got some trouble regarding in-circuit-programming. Do you have a hint for me regarding that?
Best regards Jan

We have summed up some hints in our wiki: http://flashrom.org/ISP If that does not help... what issues do you have?
The problem ist hat I try to flash a MX25L5121E SPI ROM. It's soldered onto my MoBo and is used by the ASMedia 1042 USB 3.0 chip. I did a badflash through DOS and try to recover it now. When I connect the buspirate and start operation flashrom hangs. Maybe I should try it with power on and a disconnected VCC line?

Maybe, can you please also post a flashrom log with at least -V (better -VVV in case of hangs). And if you can... updating the bus pirate firmware is usually always a good idea.
Ok I will do that. Will send the log by mail to you? The BP FW is up to date (6.3 I think). But the Windows snapshot of flashrom seems to be a bit old. Is there maybe a newer one available? I tried to build one but I'm totally lost as I am an absolute newbie to Linux...
Kind regards Jan

Our buildbot was killed by a RAID failure last year and we were too lazy (I mean busy) too resurrect it yet, that's why there are no current builds floating around. You did not mention which version you are using yet... a log would also have helped with that ;) I think I can cross-compile windows binaries for you if need be, but I presume the latest available are good enough.

Try http://ra.openbios.org/~idwer/flashrom/mingw/mingw32-w64-flashrom-r1781.exe and if you need libusb DLLs: they are found in http://ra.openbios.org/~idwer/flashrom/mingw/flashrom-0.9.6.1-r1705-mingw.7z
