Flashrom hardware requirements?

dear FlashRom developers, Is there a Wiki page for your project listing minumum hardware requirements and behaviour (errorlevels/errormessages) in case this platform isn't met? I guess FlashRom can only write/erase EEPROM, but identifying and reading is limited to i80586+/8MB/PCI/EEPROM as well? My interest so far lies in Idwer's FlashRom DOS binaries, possibly bundling them with a new FreeDOS distribution, for the sake of identifying and saving BIOS. Graceful errormessages would have my preference above General Protection Faults and the like, if running in situations where processor is too old, not enough RAM, no PCI found or no EEPROM found. with best regards, Bernd Blaauw

[PATCH] ICH SPI paranoid error handling

Some people have reported that running flashrom on Ibex Peak (after patching in the PCI ID 0x8086:0x3b02) will not only hang flashrom during the first RES/REMS command issued, it may even cause the machine to lock up or issue a hard reset. We suspect this is because RES/REMS are commands with an address, whereas RDID does not take an address and works fine. Our current ICH SPI code doesn't really follow the datasheets and uses lots of hope instead of error checking in the wrong places. This patch will fail early and fail often if something is odd. As such, merge is not recommended, but running it should definitely generating interesting results on all Intel chipsets with SPI, and especially on Ibex Peak. It probably won't fix the hang, but it should be pretty good at spewing an error before the machine dies. Untested. Highly likely to explode on VIA chipsets which use the same interface but have docs only under NDA. Hello, err, Mr flashrom :^) I suppose all the info you need is in the file. There might be one more thing: if I try running flashrom from a Xen dom0, it fails, sometimes with a segfault, usually by logging me out. I'm still a Xen newbie, so I don't know whether or not this means anything - I just hope it helps. —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-— Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.

[PATCH] add support for Toshiba Satellite P25

This patch adds support for the Toshiba Satellite P25 series. board_enable.c has been reconfigured to fix compilation errors. Thanks to roysjosh, twice11, idwer and others who I forgotten for reverse engineering the board enable and helping me and helping me fix the problems that can be major.
