Erase/Write Error

Good Morning,

I have a few blank ROM chips that I am trying to program. I keep receiving errors whenever I try to write to them. Can I not write to a blank chip with flashrom?

The chip is a Winbond W25X40.

Check the data sheet, and make sure you're holding WP & CS either high or
low (depending what the data sheet tells you). Providing more detail like
the error messages might help others answer too; I'm pretty new to
flashing.
