Hi, My motherboard is an ASUS M2N4-SLI, and I attempted to flash it with the 1205 BIOS available from the ASUS website, the flash went without incident as can be seen here http://www.pastebin.ca/1642685 When I rebooted everything seemed to work fine until I reached GDM where I found my usb mouse no longer worked, so I dropped to console (fortunately am using a PS/2 keyboard) where I discovered my ethernet card had not been discovered, after rebooting a few times and tinkering with the BIOS to no effect I decided to restore my backup. Where everything worked fine again.
Speaking to Carldani in irc he made the comments:
carldani: they store the ethernet address in the bios image, so if you reflash, you lose the ethernet address... carldani: if you have a hex editor, you could try to locate your mac address in the backup file carldani: the mac address may be stored in reverse... carldani: maybe someone on the mailing list knows the mac extraction procedure better than I do
I have attached the output of lspci -nnvvvxxx and flashrom -V
Thanks Michael
