Hi,
after using flashrom to flash coreboot to a Yanling device from Aliexpress, I came accross your message:
``` This flash part has status UNTESTED for operations: WP The test status of this chip may have been updated in the latest development version of flashrom. If you are running the latest development version, please email a report to flashrom@flashrom.org if any of the above operations work correctly for you with this flash chip. Please include the flashrom log file for all operations you tested (see the man page for details), and mention which mainboard or programmer you tested in the subject line. You can also try to follow the instructions here: https://www.flashrom.org/contrib_howtos/how_to_mark_chip_tested.html Thanks for your help! ```
I was following the instructions of https://www.flashrom.org/contrib_howtos/how_to_mark_chip_tested.html You write "To see the examples of such patches, have a look at commit history of flashchips.c." Two confusions on my side, regarding this:
#1 Looking at such commits, I see that flashchips.c is eddited in a line number much higher than the total line number of this file in my copy of the repo. (The version in my repo (latest main) contains 305 lines.) I'm confused by this.
#2 My case seems to me: That I'm not marking an existing chip as tested. It seems to me I should be adding a completely new chip. Is there documentation for this as well?
It seems to me my confusion #2 is because of confusion #1. In any case, I'd be happy to add the provided info in a patch / commit to your repo. I attached the logs of the operations I did (one log file per command).
I hope you can clear up #1 above. Let me know how to continue from here.
Kind regards, Martin Gabriel Fleck / Martin
