Intel Bay Trail read report

Hi, I've got a Bay Trail tablet[1] and I tested flashrom on it, see the attached report. As reported in [1] I compiled flashrom statically on my host and then executed it under Android on the target. Reading the SPI flash works fine, is it safe enough to test writing too? I ask because accessing the SPI flash physically for external programming can be a little more inconvenient for a tablet. Another question: would it be possible to use flashrom to only reset the firmware _settings_, while leaving the code untouched? [PATCH] Add programmer for the MSTAR I2C ISP protocol

Hi, Here is a patch, that provides support for the MSTAR ISP protocol. Basically, among other chips, MSTAR manufactures SoCs that equip TV sets and computer screens, and it seems that all of their products use the same in-system programming protocol. Basically, they use the DDC channel of VGA or DVI connectors, which is actually an I2C bus, to encapsulate SPI frames (the flash chip is connected to the SoC through an SPI bus). I wrote this patch since the screen I bought had a software bug, and the manufacturer only released a new firmware binary, but no tool or instructions on flashing it. More details can be found here: http://boeglin.org/blog/index.php?entry=Flashing-a-BenQ-Z-series-for-free(d… I only read code from Linux kernel archives published by Acer to figure out the protocol (for a touchscreen controller and a NFC chip, both by MSTAR, that shared the same ISP protocol), so I don't think there are any legal problems with it. Specifically, static inline void sync_primitive(void) needs either a comment why sync_primitive is unneeded or a a code snippet with correct code. That might not be needed if /dev/mem uses a special access mode which enforces memory access ordering in Sparc. Someone else with Sparc knowledge needs to check this. Hello :-) Here are the results for this chip. Tested with Arduino (serprog). Probing: OK Reading: OK Erasing: OK Writing: OK The writing (sign) on the Chip is: Pm25LV512 AE1034 M23360LG Should i test something else? BTW: This chip was found on a "newer" nvidia graphic card (GF108 / Gforce GT430 / 1GB Ram).

Can ft2232_spi mode give access to GPIO bits?

In using the FT2232H chip in MPSSE with SPI there are many GPIO bits on other pins. I have 2 questions about flashrom with ft2232_spi mode: 1. Is there access through flashrom to those GPIO bits? (if so, where is the description?) 2. If not, If I use a different program before flashrom to set GPIO bits, will flashrom reset GPIO bits to a particular state? Thanks, -Phil

In r1872 we replaced some magic values with constant macros from ftdi.h. Among them was DIS_DIV_5 that represents the opcode that disables the use of the 5x prescaler on newer devices. Unfortunately this macro was only introduced with support for FT232H and hence is not available in older versions of the library. Revert back to using the magic constant.
