What will the cost of one of these little boards cost?
Well, I can't say for sure yet..
The glue should be dirt cheap, available from Digi-Key (or from the manufacturer as a sample :-)* ), the LCD can be gotten cheap from EIO (www.eio.com), even with a backlight (hmmm, I never thought of that, the backlight has to be driven. Probably best to have a separate board for that, you don't want it interfering with your logic signals.).
The flash chips (you already have one, right?) aren't too expensive, an AM29F010 DIP is US$8.55 from Digi-Key (that's 120nS, that's only 8.3MHz, though they're the same ones in most boards. I guess the ISA bus will be ok, phew).
The most varying cost will be the board itself, they have to be custom made (unless you use a prototype card, I paid ~CAN$50 for mine) and may cost anywhere from CAN$20 to CAN$150 each. I'm going to try to get some made at the local university, they'll be cheap in quantity (especially where I'm a student). However, if we go with something like ExpressPCB, it might be better, who knows? I'll figure it out.
Though it's not bad, compare to the cost of a full featured commercial POST card (which doesn't do nearly the stuff this does).
