Did you need to add code to x86 kernel to use open firmware interface?

What I ported to OLPC was the FirmWorks Open Firmware, which shares a lot of core code with OBP (all of which I wrote).
Sun and FirmWorks are planning to release a *lot* more stuff Real Soon Now. Within weeks. Stay tuned.
