Do a "svn update" to pick up my latest changes and try the "BIOS" version again. Let me know if you have any problems. I fixed a regression caused by some changes that I made several months ago.
By the way, you can see OFW's early startup progress if you add "-serial /dev/tty" to the qeme command line. That's how I debugged the problem.

I think that Qemu itself works because I booted it with one of the linux test images available for download from their site and it works fine.
