Daniel,

I'm swamped this week or I'd try to help you further.  The ML has some
issues.  Search the archives starting from December around Xmas time. 
There is a series of exchanges between myself and Christian Sühs.  He
has the ML on his board and he has it up and going with X even.

Christian,  can you whip up a patch for your changes vs the tree and post them?
