I suspect that a lot of the non-QEMU code is broken simply because 
no-one has any hardware to test it on (hey, that's why I started getting 
into OpenBIOS because I had legacy images I wanted to run with no hardware).

Having been involved with the project for 5 years or so, I can't 
remember seeing a single request asking about running OpenBIOS on 
MOL/briq/real PPC hardware. Now my guess is that a lot of the per-target 
hacks would now go away if someone were interested enough to want to do 
this, but I'm not holding my breath...
