Is "software1" the boot cd? I remember booting from the "install" cd.

should do.

It must be a regression. svn.738 was able to launch ufsboot (and hang
afterwards due to a memory corruption). Didn't check the later
versions.

bisecting may be tricky because a few randomly selected versions just
don't compile in my environment (debian/sparc).
