This should actually work fine.

Since this is on a linux system (using dan kegel's crosstool) I am not
sure whether it will help..

sparc-linux-gcc -v
Using built-in specs.
Target: sparc-linux
Configured with:
/data/rpmbuild/BUILD/crosstool-0.42/build/gcc-4.1.0-glibc-2.3.2/sparc-linux/gcc-4.1.0/configure
--target=sparc-linux --host=x86_64-host_unknown-linux-gnu
--prefix=/opt/crosstool/gcc-4.1.0-glibc-2.3.2/sparc-linux
--with-headers=/opt/crosstool/gcc-4.1.0-glibc-2.3.2/sparc-linux/sparc-linux/include
--with-local-prefix=/opt/crosstool/gcc-4.1.0-glibc-2.3.2/sparc-linux/sparc-linux
--disable-nls --enable-threads=posix --enable-symvers=gnu
--enable-__cxa_atexit --enable-languages=c,c++ --enable-shared
--enable-c99 --enable-long-long
Thread model: posix
gcc version 4.1.0
