What's the license? The procedure is documented in the "Pentium Pro Processor
BIOS Writer's Guide" at ftp://ftp.intel.com/pub/IAL/p6/pppbios.pdf (Chapter 8)

It's also available at http://www.sandpile.org/80x86/mcupdate.shtml

I can see no mention of a restrictive license on the algorithms presented.

Or did you mean the actual microcode update, as opposed to the code which 
loads it into the CPU?
