[flashrom] Donations in the form of personal bug bounties

Hi all:

It looks like flashrom development leaves a lot to be desired,
especially in the form of unmerged patches.

I have seen on the website that donations are not accepted because of
the extra paperwork required.

Would something in the way of bug bounties help? I would imagine that
those could be payable directly to the person that actually commits the
changes, so maybe removing the need for an organisation to exist.

I haven't got any experience in this subject, but these sites look good:

   www.bountysource.com
   freedomsponsors.org

I wonder if enough people would actually come together for a particular
bug to be worth fixing in this project.

I understand that money is not the ideal solution, as it can steer
trouble in open-source projects. However, if not enough volunteers show
up, what are the alternatives? Forking the project makes little sense
(at least in my usage case), and buying a commercial programmer is no
fun either.

Regards,
   rdiez
