Yes, you will need to make flashrom speak to the MCP2210.

That should work so long as you can wrap generic data into a protocol that
MCP2210 will understand.

I'm not sure about the existing library using /dev/hidraw... If you want to
use libusb then you might want to check out ft2232_spi.c as an example.
