Unfortunately you're quite likely to encounter the same issue even with 
an updated version of flashrom program (as included in the PartedMagic 
LiveCD for example). Laptops and more modern Intel boards are tricky, 
leaving only the vendor-supplied bios flashing tool as a working option.
