The explicit string match has the advantage of being extensible. More below.

Yes. And in case we ever want to match two strings at once, the "bp:^A8V
MX$" can be extended easily to
"bvbp:^ASUS$:^A8V MX$" without changing any structs at all. Especially
in the case where there is no usable PCI subsystem ID (board vendor not
present) this may come handy. I'd wait for such an extension until we
really desperately need it, though.
