Finally I've done these memory benchmarks at G505S as you requested
( memory installed: 2*8GB 1600MHz 9-9-10-27 )
memtest: 4874 MB/sec
sysbench at Kubuntu 16.04.5 LiveUSB (systemd, very old kernel) - just
1325 MB/sec
sysbench at Void Linux Nov2018 LiveUSB (no systemd, 4.18 kernel) - 2540 MB/sec
Almost 2x difference just by changing OS. Same parameters have been used:
./sysbench --test=memory --memory-total-size=4G --num-threads=4 run
or
./sysbench memory --memory-total-size=4G --threads=4 run
Also tried 12G for both cases with similar respective results

As you see, it really matters under which OS you're running that sysbench

Best regards,
Mike Banon
